Christian Meditation Group
Meditation is an ancient Christian form of prayer which was practised by the early Christian monks, and which was recovered in recent times by, among others, a Benedictine monk called Fr. John Main, who saw that this tradition had relevance in the modern world. There are Christian Meditation Groups throughout the world. By reciting a prayer word or “mantra” one attempts to bring one’s mind and body to stillness in order to allow “God’s mysterious and silent presence that is already within us to become the reality”. This type of contemplative prayer does not exclude other types of prayer – rather it deepens reverence for the Sacraments and Scripture. The Church of the Holy Spirit Meditation Groups meet every Thursday in the Parish Office: one in the morning at 10:30 am and another in the evening at 7:00 pm. Meetings last half an hour. New members are always welcome. No costs or donations are expected from members.
